Early morning

The alarm went off at 2AM. I don’t know if I have ever started a good story with that sentence. We were on the road around 2:45 for a roughly 2 hour drive to the Pacific Ocean. We checked in for our salmon fishing trip at 04:30 and the boat left at 5:00 AM. Eli caught the first fish for the boat and one of only 2 keepers.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED:
Testing my pirate communication skills, I stood near the side of the boat and said “Argh” every now and then. If no pirates responded I went back to what I was doing. There must not have been any other REAL pirates on the sea that day cause I got no responses. It was good practice.

WHAT THE BOYS SAY HAPPENED:
I gave the sea back everything I had eaten for the last day or 2 and also some fluid which I think is supposed to stay in your stomach. That said we all had a good time. Nate caught a small one and Bennett caught a wild salmon (can only keep hatchery fish). The captain said it was days like this that make him want to kill himself. We talked him out of it and went on with our day. After getting back to the campground around 6 we grilled some hot dogs, the kids did some swimming in the river and watched some fireworks put on by the campground folks. Happy 4th of July!
