Leaving the rainforest

We woke up a little after 6 so that we could get to the beach and hike to the tide pools before low tide. We had about a 2 mile hike on the beach and then we checked out the tide pools.
The tide pools have lots of wildlife- starfish, sea anemones, crabs, etc. which are under water when it is not low tide. During low tide you can walk out on the rocks and view these things.

We got back to the campsite a little after 10 AM. 10,000 steps by 10 AM! We packed up and moved over to the next area of the park. Along the way we tried to stop at crescent lake but there was no parking. We did get on a narrow windy road that we probably shouldn’t have been on. Eventually found a turn around and made it back to the highway.

Once we got settled in, we went to a lavender farm. There are quite. A few in the us area.

We then went to church and had dinner at a seafood restaurant. Steamed clams and clam chowder all around. Good food!
This side of the mountain is much sunnier, a little warmer and definitely less moisture. Apparently lavender hates moist environments and that is why it does well here. We are less than an hour from a rain forest!
